PRESS RELEASE FROM THE PLATFORM AGAINST ISLAMOPHOBIA ON THE TERRORIST ATTACK AT THE FRENCH WEEKLY MAGAZINE ‘CHARLIE HEBDO’
The Spanish Platform against Islamophobia strongly condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated on the morning of January 7 against the French weekly magazine Charlie Hebdo, which led to the death to, at least, 12 people and has caused 4 more persons serious injured.
The very first information points that the terrorist attack has been carried out by people of the Muslim faith, or which have attempted to link their actions to the message of Islam, and that is why we want to state the following:
Firstly, we express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the French society. We also express our affection and solidarity with all them in these terrible and painful moments.
No religion or belief protects such acts against human life. There is no justification for these miserable actions and it is absolutely necessary to show our positioning against them. The message of the Islam, peaceful in its very essence, is incompatible with this kind of terrorist acts.
From here, we would like to make a request to the political parties, media and wider society, to prevent that these events are used to attack or discredit the Muslim community.
We appeal to the society to stand together against terrorism, to work for a better society and to guarantee a pacific and tolerant coexistence, opened to all people of good will, and where acts as these happened in France have no place.
Movement against Intolerance assumes the PRESS RELEASE OF THE PLATFORM AGAINST ISLAMOPHOBIA, of which it is part.
